Masks
The one piece worth trying on before you buy. A mask that seals on your face beats a pricier one that leaks every dive.
Fins
Open heel with boots for Florida springs and boat ladders, full foot for warm reef diving. Stiffness should match your legs, not your ego.
Wetsuits
BARE suits cut for Florida water: warm summer reefs at around 78°F and the 68°F springs that run cold year round.
BCDs
Jacket and back-inflate styles from Oceanic and Zeagle. Lift capacity and fit matter more than the feature list.
Regulators
Atomic and Oceanic first and second stages. We're an authorized service center for what we sell, so annual service happens here.
Computers
Your most important safety tool after training. Air integration and nitrox handling are the two decisions that change the price.
Lights
Primary and backup lights for night dives, wrecks, and the spring caverns where the light goes green and then goes away.
Accessories
SMBs, reels, slates, knives, clips, and the small things you notice you're missing at the worst possible time.

What to own, and when
You don't need a full kit to start diving. Buy the pieces that have to fit you first, rent the rest, and add to it as your diving tells you what you actually need.
Add a dive computer
Your own computer means your nitrogen loading follows you across trips and rental kits. It's the first piece worth saving for after the basics.
Add a BCD and regulator
Once you're diving often enough that rental fees add up, a reg you know and a BCD that fits are worth owning. We service both here.
Add lights, SMB, and a backup
Primary and backup lights, a surface marker buoy, and redundancy where it counts. This is where the save-a-dive kit stops being optional.

Thermal protection, honestly
Central Florida gives you two very different kinds of diving in the same weekend, and they call for different suits. Summer ocean water off Jupiter and the Keys averages around 78°F, warm enough that a 3mm carries most divers through a single dive comfortably. The springs are a different story: they hold near 68°F every day of the year, sun or no sun, and the cold catches up with you on the second and third dive.
Bring us the diving you have planned and we'll put you in the right thickness. A hood and gloves for spring days, a shorty for August reef trips, a 5mm if you get cold and know it.

Our gear comes through Huish Outdoors: Atomic Aquatics, Oceanic (building dive gear since 1972), BARE, and Zeagle. We're an authorized service provider for all four, so the regulator you buy here comes back here for its annual service, and we file the warranty claim for you if something goes wrong.

Do I need a wetsuit for diving in Florida?
For most Florida diving, yes. Come by the shop and we'll match the suit to the diving you're actually doing.
